Volunteers Needed!

The campaign against the Church of Scientology is expanding. Anonymous needs your help.

Translations will be needed for press releases, websites and video scripts before videos are made. Anonymous is global, this movement is global, our message must be global.

Do you have translation experience? Experience managing a translation project? This project needs someone to help get it organized who has actual experience in the field.

If you can do any of these, we need you! Join us on IRC at irc.partyvan.org #translation, and on the wiki at http://wiki.costruth.com/trans/ . Make your voice heard!

We are Anonymous.

United as one.

Divided by zero.

Expect us.

Languages

F.A.Q.

  • How do I sign up?
Just volunteer through here Call To Arms: Translators or add yourself to the team on your language's wiki page.
  • Where do I find a list of materials that need to be translated in my language?
    Go through the Translate page.
  • Who are we translating for, and how will this material be put to action?
Ideally, materials need to be translated for the general public for easy dissemination. Materials must be provided for media for talking points and sound bites. We also need text to create a website that is concise, non-threatening, and pithy, like YouFoundTheCard.com. In fact, it would behoove us to translate entire pages of that site as it stands.
  • How many translators are needed per language?
Minimum two people per language: one can have student level proficiency and the other native speaker proficiency. More people per language means we can validate translations via multiple attempts and proof reading.
  • How does something get submitted to the team?
Post first draft replies to: Call To Arms: Translators
  • How are drafts reviewed and proofread?
All first drafts will be entered at the wiki and native speakers can edit directly.
  • The text I'm translating is for a video. How do I convert my translation into an audio file?
Several tools are available online for this purpose (see the list below).

A couple of reminders

Remember to mark an unfinished translation with Template:untrans to help keep track on translations. All you have to do is to write {{untrans}} to the top of the page. You can check unfinished translations from Category:Unfinished translations.

Important: To avoid working on something that has already been translated, please check the Enturbulation Forums for "Done Jobs." Completed translations at Enturbulation Forums can just be copied and pasted to this wiki.

Questions for discussion

  • What existing content needs to be translated?
Ides of March call to action video script. April Operation Reconnect video script. The three most effective paper flyers with the most pickup during the 2/10 protests.
  • How can we distribute this content?
  • Can we get more connected with the teams making videos and websites?
I am pretty connected to the teams doing both, most of it is being done on irc and I will be bringing their content here and making sure they get in contact with us when we are ready for them.
  • Can march15.org and/or reconnect.org (same site) also be in the languages available at the moment?
I think there should be more clarity to other anonymous, especially those that make announcements and websites, that we have a decently efficient translation project here that allows for more than English only.
  • Can we assure that time sensitive things make it through the process without leaking first?
  • Flyer Translations
  • others?
