Who Is Anonymous?

Si Anonymous ay mula sa kultura ng mga "image boards" sa internet. Hindi na kailangan mag-rehistro sa mga "image boards" na ito para mag-post kaya lahat ng mga poster ay ngalang "Anonymous". Itong klaseng pagpapatalastas o posting ay madalas magulo at maingay. Pero itong kalayaan na dulot ng mga "image boards" na ito ay nag-bigay buhay sa isang di-pangkaraniwang kultura ng pagkakaisa.

Kami ay isang demokratikong samahan ng katauhan na nagkakaisa at umaayon sa mga opinyon o mga ideya. Malamang alam niyo si Anonymous pero hindi niyo kami kilala. Kami ay iyong mga kapatid, nanay at tatay, mga anak, at mga iba pang mamamayan. (I'm not going to add the superiors/underling thing since the words in Tagalog are not as.. uh.. poetic. So I just used "citizen".) Baka katabi niyo na kami. Kami ay lahat-lahat pero wala. Ang aming lakas ay dulot ng aming karamihan. Ang aming pang-kolektibong lakas ng loob para lumaban ay galing sa grupo. Halimbawa: Yung People Power Edsa Rally nuong 1986. (I'm using the People Power 1 example cuz Filipinos know THAT.) Our greatest advantage is a knowledge of the fundamentals we share as human beings. This knowledge is a fruit of our anonymity.

Anonymous has left its mark on society more than once. Previous Anonymous projects have resulted in the closing of the white-supremacist radio show produced by Hal Turner, and the criminal prosecution of Canadian pedophile Chris Forcand. Anonymous has been called a "Cyber Vigilante Group" by The Toronto Sun and Global News, though in reality we are much more than that.
